Re: Linux VS Windows
I like windows better, even though i have a mac i still have windows on a VM, so i like its look better... i think its a more powerful OS.
Re: Linux VS Windows
Imo, Linux is the best OS, period. The others have their little pluses, but none can compare to a truely free and custom setup that Linux can provide. You can always use a vBox for the others for things like PhotoShop and things. Open Source is the future, and Linux is the only to offer that.
Re: Linux VS Windows
linux is dead.... i only know one person that uses it... it needs to have alot more reputation to be considered one of the top OS, because right now its Mac Mac and Windows...
Re: Linux VS Windows
Actually, in a press release Microsoft is finding Linux to be a bigger threat than Mac. Linux users are rising, there's millions of us. With custom distros now, it's becoming easier for people to use it.
Oh, and name a site. I'll bet you $10 it's using Linux powered servers.

Re: Linux VS Windows
youve got me there, but as for my site i am sure of a mac server, thats what i bought
anyways, i still think Mac is a larger community than Linux, at least has more of a future... but its all just opinion

Re: Linux VS Windows
The issue with saying that is simple, do you honestly think we live in a world where people like to be controlled? That's the key right there. Why is FireFox creeping up on IE? Because it's open source. Linux is open, Mac and Windows arn't. They can't compete in the long run, and they know that. There's already huge fight about copyrights with music and movies, people want to break free. The younger generation is free of limits when it comes to the Internet and computers. My school has Macs, but they're switching over to Ubuntu to save costs. Why pay $1,000 for a Mac when Linux will run on a computer from 1999?
My biggest issue with Mac is, it's controlled. I have limited freedom within the OS. I can't do much. I feel like a clone, where everyone does as told and no one steps out side the line. With Linux, that's the point.
I see an open source future, it's the path to getting there that i'll find to be most interesting

Re: Linux VS Windows
Since I haven't used Linux before I'll go with Windows. I've used Ubuntu before though I'm not sure if that falls under Linux? If yes then I'll definitely side with windows.
